The Whitehall Spirit 17 Expedition Model is designed to fill the needs of those who want to travel farther afield, go exploring/camping or participate in one of the RAID-style regattas, which are growing in popularity.
An easily trailerable boat, the Whitehall Spirit 17 Expedition is perfect as a classic daysailer, or health-giving exercise rowing machine. Venturing farther afield, it's great for exploring coastal waters, lakes or rivers. Drawing less than a foot of water, and fully beachable, one can tuck into quiet, uncrowded spots that are still easy to find.
The salty looking sail rig features a roller furling code-zero style light air jib, and a reefable main for higher winds. The 15' beautiful Sitka spruce mast features a carbon fiber sleeve enabling it to break into two parts for stowing on board allowing for a clean rowing set up. A solid bronze centerboard and teak kick up rudder enhance it's shallow water abilities.
Easily handled by one, there is the option of up to three rowers in a traditional rowing configuration, or one or two rowers in the slide seat configuration which features hinged bronze outriggers and 9'6"sculls to achieve a rowing speed of well over 5 knots, with an easy, smooth stroke.
